Public Hearing to Oppose Health Insurance Rate Hikes

July 24, 2018 - 4:30pm to 6:30pm

On Tuesday, July 24th, the Green Mountain Care Board will hold a public hearing on health insurance rates for 2019. Blue Cross Blue Shield is requesting an average annual increase of 7.5%, while MVP is proposing an increase of 10.9%.

For those of us who rely on Medicaid, bringing in just a little extra in income or taking on a few more hours of work means getting thrown onto Vermont Health Connect, where insurance companies like Blue Cross - which covers 70,000 residents in Vermont - have raised rates by a cumulative 36 percent since 2014.

Join us on July 24th to oppose health insurance rate hikes and call for a system that treats healthcare as a human right and a public good. Keep an eye out for rideshare and logistics details to come.

Public Hearing on Health Insurance Rates - 4:30 - 6:30 in the Memorial Room at Montpelier City Hall, 39 Main Street, in Montpelier.
