On Saturday January 28th, the stars of the new film “Strength of the Storm”--the first feature-length movie made about about Tropical Storm Irene’s impact on Vermont--will join the Vermont Workers’ Center and filmmaker Rob Koier for the film’s premier at the Old Labor Hall in Barre, Vermont.

Saturday, December 10- Burlington, VT-- After being arrested and detained just 3 months ago Danilo Lopez was recognized for his work standing up for the human rights of Vermont's migrant workers at a big Human Rights Conference on Saturday. Upon receiving the award Lopez told the packed house of at least 300 Vermonters, who gave him a rowdy standing ovation, "Thanks to all the support and solidarity we are creating important human rights changes for all.
UPDATE: Over 350 registrations so far and more are pouring in. Organizers expect more than 500 people will participate.

Montpelier, VT -- Statehouse -- Vermonters from all over the state turned out for a major public hearing on Vermont’s new universal healthcare bill, H.202. The Vermont Senate Health & Welfare Committee held the hearing on the bill in the main chamber of the Statehouse one week after H.202 passed in the Vermont House of Representatives by a 92 - 49 vote. Over fifty Vermonters testified overwhelmingly in support of the bill and demanded bold action to begin treating healthcare as a human right, provided as a public good.

Montpelier, VT -- Statehouse -- On Wednesday, March 23, members of the grassroots Healthcare Is a Human Right Campaign cheered on as the Vermont House of Representatives voted 92 - 49 to pass the universal healthcare bill, H.202. The House bill passed as a result of thousands of Vermonters speaking out and demanding that healthcare be treated as a human right and provided as a public good.
Vermont Workers’ Center launches Put People First! The People’s Budget Campaign
Barre, VT -- On Saturday, March 19, at a Town Meeting on the Economy with US Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont Workers’ Center officially launched a new campaign called “Put People First! The People’s Budget Campaign. The campaign takes aim at the failed policy of responding to the state’s revenue crisis by cutting necessary public services instead of restoring revenues — in effect balancing the state budget on the backs of the most disadvantaged Vermonters and thus denying their human rights.
