Mobile Home Park Residents for Equality & Fairness
Vermont mobile home parks were some of the hardest hit areas during the disastrous flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene and in response mobile home residents across the state have begun organizing to take action. Residents have launched a petition calling on elected leaders and community members to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors – those living at mobile home parks across the state, including many elderly and disabled Vermonters on fixed incomes – do not bear the whole cost of removing their destroyed homes or repairing damaged homes.
Please sign the petition to show your support and insist that these homes are removed or repaired safely, and that residents have a long-term place to live as soon possible. The residents must be ensured that assistance is available to meet guidelines to return to these parks safely, or that there are affordable long-term housing solutions with winter approaching.
Weston Mobile Home Park and other Vermont mobile home residents have formed the group "Mobile Home Park Residents for Equality & Fairness" to reach out to other mobile home park residents effected by Irene. And believe assistance should not come at the expense of other programs that people depend on to survive day-to-day because the values of Vermonters is to come together in times of crisis.

We, the people of Vermont, believe that those living at mobile home parks across the state - often our most vulnerable neighbors including many elderly and Vermonters with disabilities on fixed incomes – should not bear the whole cost of removing their destroyed homes or repairing damaged homes.
We call on our elected leaders to provide funds to ensure that these homes are removed or repaired safely, and that residents have a long-term place to live as soon possible with winter approaching. This includes assistance to meet guidelines to return to the parks, or ensuring that there are affordable long-term housing solutions. This assistance should not come at the expense of other programs that people depend on to survive day-to-day. The values of Vermonters call for us to come together in times of crisis.
