Dr. Hsaio's team selected by Health Care Reform Commission. Recommendation will now go to Joint Fiscal Committee

This afternoon the Health Care Reform Commission unanimously selected Dr Hsaio and his team to design the 3 health care systems options as called for in Act 128 (S.88) Dr. Hsaio has been actively engaged in designing health system reforms and universal health insurance programs for many countries.

The Commission's choice will now be presented to the Joint Fiscal Committee tomorrow morning for acceptance or rejection.

Act 128 states that all options must meet the principles and goals outlined in Section 2 of the law. The principles are based on the Healthcare is a Human Right principles.

The HCHR Campaign will continue to work for transparency and participation during the design process.

A draft of the options will be made public at the beginning of 2011, with a 15 day public review process.

The final proposal will be presented to the general assembly and the governor at the beginning of February 2011

It is critical that we continue to build a strong committed base to overcome the many powerful forces who profit from the healthcare status quo and to keep the momentum going toward implementing our human rights based healthcare system.
