Huge Organizing Success--Town Meeting Day 2012!
All across the state of Vermont members of the Vermont Workers' Center visited Town Meeting Day and voting poll sites to find out what issues people witnessed in their communities.
All across the state of Vermont members of the Vermont Workers' Center visited Town Meeting Day and voting poll sites to find out what issues people witnessed in their communities.
On February 13, 2012 over 150 people with the Put People First Campaign turned out to 14 VT interactive television sites to speak at the state budget hearings for the Joint Legislative Appropriations Committees. People testified sharing their personal stories. Their message to legislators was that we're here together to do the hard work of transforming the way our state creates its budget to build a system that puts people first and meets all our human rights.
The Vermont Workers’ Center premiered a new film called Strength of the Storm (56 min), directed by Rob Koier, which chronicles a group of mobile home residents who organized together after their homes were destroyed in tropical storm Irene.
In Solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street Protests, the Vermont Workers' Center is organizing rallies across the state as well as a trip to New York City. As part of our Put People First campaign we are standing together with people around the country. Join us in:

MONTPELIER — A nonprofit grassroots group that rallied thousands of Vermonters to support health care reform legislation with its “health care is a human right” campaign is laying the groundwork for another political push with a different focus: state budget and tax policies.
