2011 People's Toolkit
The People’s Toolkit is a document intended to help Healthcare Is a Human Right campaign volunteers to become familiar with the campaign itself, the human rights principles that the campaign uses in evaluating healthcare systems (and proposed legislation), relevant legislation and other information that might be of use in talking with legislators, attending legislative committee hearings or organizing generally.
Along with this introduction, the People’s Toolkit consists of the components listed below.
Getting the Most Recent Version of the People’s Toolkit
The People’s Toolkit is updated continuously. The most recent version can always be found at www.workerscenter.org/toolkit.
Using the People’s Toolkit
Reading the components in the order listed below is a reasonable way to get started with the Toolkit. Doing so will put you in a good position to explain the campaign and how we evaluate proposed healthcare reform legislation, as well as to understand the nature of the recent federal healthcare “reform” legislation and Vermont Act 128.
Making Contributions
As you use the People’s Toolkit, let us know how it works for you. In particular, are there frequently asked questions that we have not provided answers for? Or could the existing answers be improved?
We have tried to provide enough information to help you become comfortable discussing healthcare as a human right without overwhelming you with detail. If you think we have missed the balance point, please let us know.
