South Burlington Teachers need community support and your solidarity!

WHAT'S HAPPENING: South Burlington teachers are in the middle of a contract crisis. They have worked nearly 4 months without a contract and are the only group of teachers in Chittenden County who do not have a settled contract for this school year. The three main issues are salary schedule changes, health insurance offerings (the board wants to unilaterally decide what new plan we would get if VEHI ceases to exist), and capping our professional development funds.

One of the People’s Budget Campaign’s first successes has been to require the Governor to hold public budget forums each fall. This year’s forums will be held on October 23 and November 5, from  via Vermont Interactive Television (VIT).

BREAKING: Victory for 7,500 Vermont Homecare Providers!

BREAKING NEWS: Over 7,500 Vermont homecare providers today voted to form a union with Vermont Homecare United and is Vermont's 2nd largest. This is the biggest union organizing victory in Vermont's history and the biggest union victory in the country this year. By winning collective bargaining rights with the State of Vermont and bringing to the table people receiving services homecare workers now become a serious force in the state.
