Workers for the Chittenden County Transit Authority (CCTA) are taking a stand for the greater good: Let’s stand with them as they push for a contract that’s good for us all!

They’re saying:
No! - to company officials who want them to work
18-hour days of split shifts and forced overtime.
No! - to risking passenger safety to keep up with
unreasonable timetables.
No! - to unfair discipline practices

Burlington Livable City Coalition Float in Mardi Gras Parade

100_1143.jpgSaturday February 28th members of the Burlington Livable City Coalition participated in the Burlington Mardi Gras Parade. The theme of the BLCC's float was "Who are the people in your neighborhood." The people riding the float dressed up as working people in our neighborhood and held signs asking questions about lead poisoning, livable jobs and Healthcare is a Human Right. Signs on either side of the float read "Let's make Burlington a livable city for everybody!".

Livable Wage Victory for Burlington Food Service & Custodial Workers

Edmunds Food Service Button DayBurlington, VT – After a three and a half year campaign, Burlington school food service and custodial worker of AFSCME Local 1343 won an agreement that will bring its all of its members up to a livable wage by the end of the contract. This agreement is being celebrated as a ground-breaking victory. This is the second livable wage victory in less then a year, last fall the Burlington para-educators had the first livable wage victory in the Burlington Schools.
